National Commercial Manager

We are seeking a National Commercial Manager to lead our commercial function across New Zealand and drive the ongoing transformation of our commercial systems, processes and performance.

This is a key role within our National Executive Leadership Team, providing strategic commercial leadership across the business and supporting the successful delivery of our projects and long-term business objectives.

About the Role

Our ideal candidate is a proven commercial leader with extensive experience on large-scale construction projects. You will lead commercial performance, contract management and risk across our portfolio, while developing high-performing teams and providing trusted strategic advice.

As a key member of the leadership team, you will champion commercial excellence, drive consistency across the business, and embody Leighs' values of Pride, Passion and Excellence in everything you do.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead commercial performance, contract management and risk across all projects
• Provide commercial leadership and strategic advice to senior leadership.
• Review and negotiate key client, consultant and subcontractor agreements
• Lead, mentor, and develop commercial teams nationally.
• Drive consistent commercial systems, processes, governance, and reporting.
• Support work selection, tender strategy, pricing and contract negotiations

Skills and experience required:

• Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or a relevant commercial discipline.
• Minimum of 15 years' experience in senior commercial leadership roles within the construction industry.
• Proven success delivering large-scale and complex commercial construction projects.
• Experience as a senior member of project and business leadership teams.
• Strong leadership capability with experience developing high-performing teams.
• Values-based leadership approach with the ability to influence culture and performance.
• Advanced commercial, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
• JobPac experience would be advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
